Progressive Details: Part 2

Through out this project I experimented with a wide range of techniques (which is something that has been a bit lacking in some of my previous topics). I started with hand embroidery, but then extracted the patterns that I had found in victorian clothes to use them in other forms such as machine embroidery, cut-outs, lino prints, and digital prints. Upon reflection of this project, although my use of a range of methods was successful, I also could have considered combining some of the techniques (for example, I could have printed my prints onto fabric and embroidered into them).

I feel that I had quite a clear colour scheme in mind during this project, taking colours from both Victorian fashion (such as rich burgundy and jade) and modern sportswear (I gathered that cool grey and some softer shades of pink and blue were used often in women’s sports clothing, and they complimented the Victorian colours quite nicely). However, peers and tutors suggested that my chosen colour palette was slightly to broad and it could have been narrowed down more.
