During this second week, the focus was on finishing our final outcomes individually and as a group and doing our final photoshoots and still life shoots. We all worked well together in order to get everything we needed together. Personally, I was working on samples and a knitted bag to be using in the still life shoot and as an accessory in the final fashion shoot. I felt that we were a little disorganised in terms of communication and consistency between us, and as a result the final outcomes were not as strong as they could have been and were not strongly connected to each other.
As an individual, I continued to research and create textile samples, also using the heat press to transfer my prints onto fabric- this was a technique that I have not tried out before, and was quite successful. I feel that although I created a number of samples, I should have pushed more for them to be used in the final fashion designs and outcomes by working more closely with the fashion designers in the group.
Although we managed to complete all the tasks required for the project such as concept boards, customer profiles, shop analysis, etc… additional things like stickers or a website would have been a good way to help us promote the brand as we were presenting it. The week concluded with each group presenting their rebrand and tutor and peer feedback. Our concept of ‘Lost and Found’ was interesting, however as a tutor pointed out, it may have not been popular with the Missoni family as the base of the concept (the missing family member) was such a personal and upsetting matter. Never-the-less we had kept a consistent concept and colour scheme that was evident through-out our work, as well as a successful photoshoot on and off-site.
The presentation itself could have been more organised; it would have been helpful if we had run through it together as a group and decided who would talk about what. Unfortunately, I did not actually manage to speak much during the presentation and as we were running out of time the textiles slides were skipped- in the future I need to work on being more confident in the presentation of my ideas so that I can present them in a clear and succinct way to my tutors and peers.
