Following assessment, a key thing that I gathered was that I need much more research and I need to research in greater depth from a wide variety of sources in order to create a really strong base for my experiments to come from and to communicate my concept well. (I will write a post more about assessment later this week, so for now back to the FMP!).
In light of this I thought I better start collecting some primary research now to build upon my secondary research that I did earlier this week. I recently got a macro lens for my camera, so I thought this would be a great way to get some detailed recordings of nature up close. I have to admit that I don’t really have much experience in professional photography so some of my images are a little blurry and I still feel like I can get even closer with the lens, but I managed to get alot of interesting photos showing things like moss textures and dried up leaf veins as well as weeds. For future photoshoots I will try to find someone to help me get to grips with macro photography, and maybe see if I can find any useful videos so I can get some really sharp and detailed photographs.
Alongside taking photographs, I was also doing some sketches from direct observation, which was a good was to record anything that took my interest immediately. I started taking recordings just going up and down my road, as the first step to appreciating nature is looking at what we have around us, looking at the smaller things that we wouldn’t normally take much notice of. I then went to Richmond Park and Kew Gardens- at this point I am still keeping my research mainly to everyday details and textures in nature, although I do plan to go back to Kew Gardens later on in my project to record some more exotic and unusual textures.
