Drawing upon the last studio session where we took a more art based approach, I began experimenting and responding more to my research images to extract patterns/shapes/textures that I could take into textiles.
In my previous projects, I have always received the feedback that I need to use more mixed media in my work and using multiple media on one page. Keeping this in mind I have been trying to experiment more with media like chalk pastels and charcoal. I like working with charcoal but I find chalks abit harder to achieve the effect I want, also both these media are very messy (I might have smeared charcoal all over my dining table by accident). Never-the-less, I have been using these media along with pencils, pens and watercolour. I usually use watercolour in my work, so I might try other paints such as oil or acrylic for a different effect. Using more mixed media in my work will allow me to create more exciting and interesting work from my research.
