I have now been working with my research and my experiments to produce some textile samples using the various materials I had sourced earlier (see previous blog about materials research). I have been using mostly hand techniques working with various yarns, embroidery threads and the natural fabrics I have brought. My aim has been to create interesting textures and surfaces using my materials, to reflect or exaggerate those I find inspiring in nature. Alot of the techniques I have been using mainly involve stitching so I have yet to try knit, print, weave and other unusual techniques that I might discover… It would also be a good idea to try mixing different techniques in one sample.
